Introducing the ScuttleBud: Your Source for Highly Curated Cannabis Scuttlebutt

Welcome to the Blog at GanjierGuild.com – The Scuttlebud is a new blog that lives at ganjierguild.com/blog and takes all that industry scuttlebutt, and returns only relevant ScuttleBud.
For those that aren’t aware, like my landlubbin self before I hopped on this proverbial boat, scuttlebutt is an old term for the water cooler talk that fuels office politics and ultimately moves industries forward the civilized world over.
Formally, according to Merriam-Webster, scuttlebutt is a nautical term referring to the “cask on shipboard to contain fresh water for a day’s use.” With a sufficient historical lens, the shipboard fresh water supply could be thought of as the modern day water cooler. It is likely from that etymology that the modern term slang meaning of scuttlebutt: informal gossip and rumors, originates.
Even those following the cannabis industry from the safety of the shoreline are painfully aware that there’s a lot of noise in this space. There is way too much cannabis scuttlebutt, and not enough highly curated cannabis news.
From Scuttlebutt to ScuttleBud
It thus follows, at least to this high space-time navigator’s mind – that The Scuttlebud is going to be a curation of relevant cannabis scuttlebutt from all corners of the high seas. One could think of these blogposts as curated bits of timely cannabis information that will stick in your brain. Depending on the type of content… the ScuttleBud could be expounding on new peer-reviewed cannabis research discoveries; announcing Ganjier judges at cannabis cups around the world; summarizing the cannabis history or farm focus lessons from our weekly educational sessions; providing a on-the-ground observational report on a local cannabis event; or anything that our esteemed guild members can think of.
After all, it requires a dedicated team of cannabis professionals to (dry) sift through the rampant gossip and emerge from the blue ocean with actionable insights. The ScuttleBud will only accept submissions from Guild members; however, the insights are available to all.
